Gijón port is one of the most important ports of the European North-Western peninsula and a major worldwide commercial hub.

Access

Located 5 minutes from the motorway and 10 km from the Asturias Industrial and Logistics Activities Area (ZALIA), Gijon port is very easy to access.

On the 5th of January of 2012 due to the The Three Wise Men parade that takes place in every single spanish city as Christmas tradition you should know that there will be traffic restrictions to circulate both in and around the city.

In Gijón, according to local police these restrictions will run between

18:00 and 20:00 next 05/01/2012 thursday.

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE HIGHWAY NUMBER A – 66 / A – 8 (named as “Y”)
Driving through the highway A66/A8 address to Gijón,when arriving to Gijón we must take exit AS 118 TREMAÑES.
We continue driving to AS 19 TREMAÑES-SOMONTE/CANDAS-LUANCO
We drive on the AS 19 (AVILES-CANDAS-LUANCO), during 3 kms approximately and we cross the first roundabout taking the second exit.
After 2 kms we find a new roundabout that we have to cross and take the second exit to road AS 19.
After2  kms we find the indicator CANDAS – LUANCO - GI ABOÑO – EL MUSEL with and exit  at the right that we have to take.
Then, after 100 meters we find a new roundabout we drive take direction GI 1 ABOÑO.
This road runs alongside a river at its right and also between stockpiles of coal.
¡¡¡ATTENTION!!! AFTER 3 KMS WE TAKE AN EXIT TO THE RIGHT THAT INDICATES “PUERTO EL MUSEL-GIJÓN CENTRO” (Port El Musel). We drive through a tunnel.
Once we get out the tunnel we turn to the right address Gijón – Centro Urbano (Gijón centre of the city). (Parallel to the port from the outside, Eduardo Castro Avenue).
After 3 kms we find a roundabout corresponding to the entrance of the port (3rd exit).
You will find the entrance of the port, and then you must follow the indicators directly to the Motorway of the Sea.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE ROAD AS 1 (MINNER HIGHWAY)
Once the highway ends we enter into the city taking the Avenida del Llano (Del Llano Avenue), turning to the left we find the Avenida Gaspar García Laviana (Gaspar García Laviana Avenue). We continue driving crossing a short tunnel (1 km approximately), and we find the Avenida Príncipe de Asturias (Principe de Asturias Avenue).
After we cross the tunnel we take a deviation to the left after 500 meters. A8/E-70 direction to OVIEDO-AVILÉS-CORUÑA.
Once in the highway A8/E70, we take the exit number 3 direction to TREMAÑES-SOMONTE//CANDAS-LUANCO AS 19.
After 2 kms we find a new roundabout that we have to cross and take the second exit to road AS 19.
After2  kms we find the indicator CANDAS – LUANCO - GI ABOÑO – EL MUSEL with and exit  at the right that we have to take.
Then, after 100 meters we find a new roundabout we drive take direction GI 1 ABOÑO.
